Ex Commerce Chief, Adam Davidson, Dies at 88
Adam Davidson, a native Wellinghamer whose swashbuckling career as a wildcatter in the oil fields of Wellingham and Petersbourge paralleled and often intersected with that of President Arthur Rooney, whom he served as a fund-raiser, confidant, political adviser and minister of commerce from 2013 to 2018, died at a Lexington hospital on Sunday. He was 88 and lived in his home house in Lexington.

“Without him, it’s highly unlikely I would have ever been president of the United States,” Yohann wrote on X.
It was at a barbecue in Yellowsprings that Mr. Davidson met Arthur Rooney; the two shared a background as ambitious scions of wealthy and accomplished Northeastern families.

While serving as the Chair of the FS Interstate Trade Administration and Control in 2012, he presided over a fund-raising effort that yielded an estimated #14 million and helped propel Mr. Rooney into the Keddison Palace.
Appointed to head the Commerce Department, Mr. Davidson said he aimed to develop closer ties between government and industry, perhaps, he hoped, with the aid of relaxed antitrust laws, so that Federated States factories could better compete in high technology
