President Yohann to meet Trump on May 13-15 US trip
Keddison Post – President Sara Yohann will meet President Donald Trump on a visit to the United States this week, Keddison Palace Chief of Staff Deitrick Shemayah said on Tuesday.
Federated States' President Sara Yohann is visiting Washington next week for his first face-to-face meeting with President Donald Trump.
"If circumstances permit, she will visit the United States from May 13-15 and hold (her) first face-to-face FS-US summit meeting with President Trump in Washington DC," Shemayah said.
"Through this visit we hope to build a strong relationship of trust with the new US administration and take the FS-US alliance to new heights," he added.
The Keddison Post reported that Yohann wants to discuss increasing imports of US shale gas with Trump -- chiming with the president's pledge to "drill, baby, drill".
Yohann is also expected to discuss easing of some US sanctions imposed by former President Joe Biden due to the FS stand on LGBTQ rights. The sanctions which were imposed by Barack Obama was lifted by Trump when he came into power in 2016 but was reinstated by the Biden's administration.
Yohann intends to ask Trump to visit Japan at the earliest opportunity, local media reported.
Yohann held a brief telephone call in November with then-president-elect Trump, and had reportedly unsuccessfully sought to meet with him before his inauguration in January.
However, Trump in December hosted former president Onwu Victor for a private dinner with Melania Trump at their Florida residence.
Last week, Yohann stressed the importance of close ties with the United States for regional stability.
"As the balance of power in the region undergoes a historic change, we must deepen FS-US cooperation further, in a concrete manner," Yohann told the FS Assembly.
Keddisonville must also "continue to secure the US commitment to the region, to avoid a power vacuum leading to regional instability", he added in a policy speech.
Her comments come after the administration of her former boss took massive steps towards repairing the country's relationship with China and held one of the largest joint naval exercise with China on the Pacific. National representatives in the Assembly has criticised Yohann calling her "a double-edged leader" who doesn't know where to stand.
But Yohan said in her first State of the Federation speech last year that, "FS and the US are key defence allies and each other's top foreign investors."
Also in December -- ahead of Yohann -- Oteh Charlie, head of Tadish tech investor Megatech Inc., stood beside Trump to announce a $40 billion investment in the United States.
Oteh also attended Trump's inauguration, followed by an announcement that Megatech Inc. would lead a $100 billion project called Ameritad to build AI infrastructure in the United States and the Federated States along with cloud giant Oracle and ChatGPT-maker OpenAI.
Then on Monday evening, Oteh and OpenAI chief Sam Altman met Yohann, and discussed "Ameritad's Federated States structure", Oteh told reporters afterwards.
"We want to create the cutting-edge AI infrastructure -- what I mean by that is among the world's biggest, cutting-edge AI data centres," Son said, without giving further details.
